How many among us enjoy being evaluated by someone who oftentimes doesn’t even have our experience or skill level? How can someone like that sit in judgement as to whether we are right for or qualified for a job they may have never held themselves?

Fact is, there is a chance you will be interviewed by somebody who does not have your skills or experience and who has not ever held the position they are interviewing you for. What they do have experience in and what they have probably received training in, is how to interview someone as well as first impressions and maybe a bit of body language  skills. Of course if it is a small company, then the chances are pretty good that you will be interviewed by a management level person and possibly the owner who does have the experience.

Your best bet and one of your first job interview tips is to always try to be yourself and to never present yourself as someone you are not. That is something the interviewer will easily pick up on. Do the employees seem content? How many people smiled at you? Is your interviewer pleasant to be around? You need to be evaluating the company just as much as the company is evaluating you.

2. At the end of the interview (if you have a good impression from your initial evaluation of the company) you have to let them know that you would really like to work there. Many, many times a person has landed a job because they expressed a sincere interest in wanting the job when all other things being equal, other prospects did not. It’s not that an interviewer is particularly looking for it, but when it happens it makes a very good impression.
